Your privacy is the product

At SaathiOSaathi, privacy isn't a setting — it's how the product is built. This policy explains what we collect, how we protect it, and the control you keep.

1. Privacy by design

• Avatars, not faces. We never display your original photo to other members. A beautiful avatar is generated from your photo's colours and shown instead.
• Progressive disclosure. Personal details are revealed in chat only when you explicitly enable them, per person.
• Encryption at rest. All personal data is encrypted with AES-256-CBC. Searchable fields use blind indexes so uniqueness can be checked without storing plain text.

2. Information we collect

Profile details (identity, family, religion, lifestyle, preferences), contact details (email, mobile), verification documents (Aadhaar, selfie, video KYC), and usage data (matches, messages, payments).

3. How we use it

• To compute AI + astrology compatibility and show you matches.
• To verify identity and award trust badges.
• To process payments and issue invoices.
• To send notifications you've opted into (editable in Preferences).

4. Verification documents

Aadhaar, selfie and video KYC files are stored on a private, access-controlled server disk and visible only to our verification team. We store masked Aadhaar numbers, not the full number.

5. Your rights

You may access, correct, export or delete your data from your account at any time. To exercise these rights, reach out via our Contact page.

6. Data retention

We retain data while your account is active. Deleted accounts are purged within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. payment records under GST/tax law).
